what type of mattress is needed for this set. I see some curve in mattress in above picture. Regular king mattress suits for this set? or any special shape of mattress do we need to order for this set?

Curve is in the bed, not in the mattress. Any mattress would do, but avoid too thick mattreses (14 inches or above). Thanks.

Platform bed means would it come with wooden slates or solid platform board?

My wife and I are very interested in ordering this item, my only question, is the construction of the frame sturdy. what materials are used? I am 6ft 240lbs. My wife is 5ft 9inches 160lbs. A grand total of 400lbs. Its a beautiful bed, but ...

The bed should do fine, since it's a platform bed. It uses the metal frame + wooden slats across it to support the mattress and also is connected to a outer frame in many places. Thanks.
